Frequently asked questions
Here we have collected the answers to the questions we hear most often from customers. If you cannot find what you are looking for, feel free to email us at support@taskrunner.se.
Before you book
Does it cost anything to post a request?
No. It is free to describe what you need help with, both on the web and in the app. You only pay once you have found and hired a Runner for the task.
How do I send a request on the web?
Choose a service, briefly describe what needs doing, state where and when, and leave your contact details. You can attach photos, which makes the response considerably more accurate. Send a request — verified Runners in your area then bid on the task, and you choose who you hire.
How do I post a task in the app?
Download the TaskRunner app and tap "Create task". Choose the category that fits best, describe the task and add a photo if you can, decide where and when it should be carried out, and either set a price yourself or say that you are open to bids. Then you can sit back until Runners nearby start bidding.
How quickly will I get a response?
It depends on the nature of the task, but in most cases it is quick. In the app it is not unusual for the first bids to arrive within half an hour, and for the task to be assigned within an hour.
Why am I not getting any bids on my task?
This usually comes down to where you are. We are largest in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö, so in other parts of the country it can take longer to find a Runner. Get in touch with support@taskrunner.se if it is taking a while — we can often help find someone.
Can I book more than one person for the same task?
Yes. Mention in the description that the task needs more than one person — moving help, for example, often needs two. Payment goes to one person, who then shares it with the others.
Your Runner
How do I know I can trust my Runner?
Every Runner goes through a multi-step process before they can take on tasks: an interview in person or by phone, proof of ID, and a background check. After every task the Runner is rated and reviewed, which you can read before you hire anyone. Runners who behave badly are removed from the platform.
How do I know a Runner has the right skills?
Runners can only bid on and carry out the services they are verified for. Every Runner also describes themselves and their skills in their profile, and previous customers back this up through ratings and reviews.
How do I contact a Runner before I decide?
In the app, the "Bids" tab shows who has put themselves forward for the task, and you can ask them questions in the chat before you choose. Once you have chosen someone by tapping "Hire", you get their contact details.
Who can see my personal details?
We only show your first name and the first letter of your surname to other users. Contact details — phone number and email — are shared only once you have actually hired a Runner. Read the privacy policy for the full picture.
Price and payment
What does a task cost?
There is no fixed rate. Runners submit their own bids based on what you have described, so the price is set per task — scope, time, materials and floor all play a part. On the price list we explain what shapes the bids, and what to think about for different types of task.
How do I pay?
By card, through our payment partner Stripe. The amount is held in escrow and transferred to the Runner only once the task has been carried out and you have approved it. If the Runner were not to turn up, you get your money back.
Why do I pay in advance?
So that both sides can feel secure. You never have to pay for a task that was not carried out, and the Runner has a guarantee that the money is there once the job is done. Paying in advance is also a condition of the insurance cover during the task.
How much should I offer in the app?
It is up to you. A reasonable price attracts more Runners — try to estimate how many hours the task will take and what you are willing to pay per hour. You can also post the task open for bids and see what Runners suggest.
Do I need to think about tax and employer contributions?
No. Runners are self-employed through GigaPay, which handles tax and employer contributions. If the task is carried out by a company with F-tax status, the company handles it. As the customer, you do not need to do anything.
The ROT and RUT deductions
What are the ROT and RUT deductions?
Two tax reductions that private individuals over 18 can use in Sweden. RUT covers household services, ROT covers the repair, extension and conversion of a home you own. The deduction applies to the labour cost — not materials, travel or equipment.
Which work counts under which scheme, what percentages apply, and how much allowance you have left for the year are all decided by the Swedish Tax Agency and change over time. Read the current rules from the Swedish Tax Agency.
Do I need to apply for the deduction myself?
No. If the service qualifies, we handle the application to the Swedish Tax Agency for you. You just mark that you want to use the deduction and fill in the details the Swedish Tax Agency requires.
What information do I need to provide?
For RUT, your Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) is enough. For ROT you also need the property designation if the work is on a house, or the housing association’s organisation number and your apartment number if it is a co-operative apartment (bostadsrätt).
What happens if my application is rejected?
We then send an invoice for the remaining amount, which you are liable to pay. It is therefore worth checking with the Swedish Tax Agency that you have allowance left before you book.
Can my company use ROT or RUT?
No. The deductions are only for private individuals.
During and after the task
What do I do if the Runner is prevented from coming, or cannot be reached?
Email us at support@taskrunner.se. We will try to find another Runner straight away.
How do I approve that the task has been carried out?
In the app: choose "My tasks", open the task and tap "Mark task as complete". There you can also rate the Runner and leave a review. Once you have approved the task, the money is transferred to the Runner.
Can I cancel or remove a task?
If you have not yet hired anyone, you can easily remove the task in the app, via the three dots in the top right. If you have already hired a Runner and agreed a time, it is no longer possible to cancel in the app — contact support@taskrunner.se. Time limits and any fees are set out in the refund policy.
What happens if something breaks during the task?
Every task is covered by insurance with If, which protects both you and the Runner. Speak to the Runner first — the damage can often be put right straight away — then email support@taskrunner.se. See what the insurance covers, including the exclusions that apply.
What can I do if I am not happy with the result?
Get in touch with us. Often the Runner can come back and put right whatever went wrong; where that is not possible, there is a good chance of a refund. Take photos of whatever was not done correctly — it makes the assessment much easier. Read the refund policy.
Your account
